How can I get the recent posts block to show each catagory with new posts?

General folder

nun chuck

Training folder

etc.

I am afraid that would require some customization of the code that creates that block.

That's what I thought, I saw this used in another portal program with the block called CBT Navigator and thought it would be great to have this option in SP because it is so clean and better laid out making it easier for the user to see where and what was newly posted.
