  • Eliana Tamerin: That may have faded away now, or gotten better. I hope so. I see a lot of happy phpBB users, so I have to imagine someone is having success.

  • Eliana Tamerin: @andy, the phpBB folks had (at one point, not sure how it is now) a specific set of rules you had to follow to get support. Anyone not found doing so would have their topic ignored.

  • andy: SP team is a breath of fresh air...
    April 24, 2016, 11:24:32 pm
  • andy: Yes they are difficult to deal with at SMF. I never experienced anybody like that at phpbb several years ago.
    April 24, 2016, 11:24:03 pm
  • D.Va: Their team is very antagonistic and I prefer this forum and this staff far more. So kudos to SP for doing it right.
    April 24, 2016, 09:18:21 pm
  • andy: When SMF went gold there was a lot of optimism about progress and talk of 3.0.  Five years on and that soulds like SF.
    April 24, 2016, 08:37:31 pm
  • andy: Just my frustration at the slow pace of SMF. I suppose we have an alternative now.
    April 24, 2016, 08:34:38 pm
  • Burke Knight: Andy, as long as the SMF team keeps like they are doing, there's always going to be bugs, mainly due to SMF issues, because the team can't get their stuff straight.

Thanks for having an interest with our portal. If you have any requests for features, have a look at the Feature Requests board.

What is Simple Portal?

SimplePortal is one of several portal mods for Simple Machines Forums (SMF). Although always developing, SimplePortal is produced with the user in mind first. User feedback is the number one method of growth for SimplePortal, and our users are always finding ways for Simpleportal to grow. SimplePortal stays competative with other portal software by adding numerous user-requested features such as articles, block types and the ability to completely customize the portal page.

All this and SimplePortal has remained Simple! SimplePortal is built for simplicity and ease of use; ensuring the average forum administrator can install SimplePortal, configure a few settings, and show off the brand new portal to the users in minutes. Confusing menus, undesired pre-loaded blocks and settings that cannot be found are all avoided as much as possible. Because when it comes down to it, SimplePortal is YOUR portal, and should reflect your taste as much as possible.

Simple Beginnings

Simple Portal began as a rudimentary portal system designed and coded by [SiNaN]. A one page, few settings mod, that triggered the need for a portal that was simple, elegant, and powerful. A simple portal to match Simple Machines Forums (SMF).

[SiNaN] evolved the portal through its first version, and into its second with the help of SimplePortals growing userbase. Using user-suggestions [SiNaN] customised the layout and added new features, releasing his second SimplePortal version with the user in mind.

To facilitate the increasing popularity of the portal and expanding userbase, [SiNaN] increased his team. The new SimplePortal team quickly established a website as an official demo and support site for SimplePortal. It stands today with that same function.
