Help with Page & External Links
« on: September 11, 2013, 06:52:49 PM »
I would like to link SimplePortal Pages & External Pages in a nice neat section.
Such as:
http://www.dog.com
http://www.cat.com

Been playing with it for a while now, and can't figure out how to just have links in one of the blocks.

Also, is it possible to create an article without creating a forum post?
Thanks for the help.

You can make a new block using the type 'custom html'. Also custom bbcode will work.
It is easy to add links using either of these and you can find many examples of syntax using an internet search.

I do not think you can create an article without a post but you could create a custom page using Simple Portal.
Everyone is a volunteer here so please try and make a small donation to keep the Simple Portal website running

Welcome to SimplePortal!

Here's an example Custom HTML block code listing links:

Code: [Select]
<a href="http://iam.the.url">Some Nice Title 1</a><br />
<a href="http://iam.the.url">Some Nice Title 2</a><br />
<a href="http://iam.the.url">Some Nice Title 3</a><br />
<a href="http://iam.the.url">Some Nice Title 4</a>

At this time, only forum posts can be used as articles. However currently we're working on a new version of SP that adds forum independent articles functionality.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Sounds good. Glad to hear you're working on a new version. This portal system seems very useful to me.

Thank you! Actually I've almost completed the forum independent articles module but haven't had any time recently to apply the last touches. There are a few other things I want to include in the next version too, but there is so little time.
