edited to add: there is no Subs-Portal.php in Sources
edited again to add: I added the Subs-Portal.php and the Portalblock that it called for as well. Error code gone but now says simply 'unable to load Portal Template' and i can't get into the admin to uninstall it - can I just remove these files from my file manager and get SP out of there so my forum works again?

Well - I went in and manually added the files that apparently didnt make it to the upload- Subs-Portal.php , then the portalblock.php that it warned me was missing after that. Finally it brought the site back up but said it couldn't load the portal page. So couldnt log in or do anything- it just hung there.
Hostgator went through for me, manually uploading the files and got the site back up and I then was able to uninstall & delete it.
I guess I just lack the tech savviness needed.
Ive ran it before a few years ago, same host, same everything. No idea why it didnt want to go this time.

Birch,

Hello & welcome to Simple Portal.

I am sorry to hear that you had issues whilst attempting to install Simple Portal. Are you able to install other SMF mods without any trouble? Did the installation of Simple Portal flag any errors that you ignored?

A good thing to learn regarding having issues with your forum when you can not find the answer easily is to learn to use the SMF Large Upgrade package.  It is not just for upgrading as it can be used to fix issues with your forum that you can not figure out how to resolve on your own. However when using that process it will render all your mods uninstalled & revert all SMF files to default but leave your database intact (as it was). Then you just reinstall all necessary mods which should get you back to square one.

Anyhow, I am glad to hear that your forum is now back up and running.

Regards.
