I have been very curious if it would be possible to make my simple portal page my homepage ie my index.html page.  So if someone clicks on my site (www.beacongaming.net) they would get www.beacongaming.net/forum instead of my current index.html page.  I suppose I could do some sort of "hacky" round about way but perhaps someone knows of a more efficient way or an ideal way for a simple portal user. I've found that the simple portal page really has everything I want in a homepage and more. My internet provider is godaddy, I'm using dreamweaver for the site and the site is in html.  Hopefully this is the right place to ask a questions like this.  Finally, great work simple portal team! Your simple portal addition to Simple Machines has been exactly what i've been looking for, for a long time, touche.

ps.  I'm curious if you guys often run into this questions often? about how to make the simple portal page the homepage.

There is more than one way to accomplish this.

One is to use SimplePortal's standalone portal feature.

Awesome, I figured this has been asked before but honestly couldn't find anything perhaps I was searching the wrong key words.  Thank you I'll give this method a shot.

Well nuts, I've had little success trying to implement the SimplePortal Standalone.  Which I think is exactly what i'm looking for.

-I found the PortalStandalone.php and as the instructions said, went to change the

// Should be the full path!
$forum_dir = '/home/content/11/9263511/html/beacongamingnet/forum'; to

string to match the SMF Directory...which was already the same.  so perhaps i'm misunderstanding the instructions.

-then I renamed it index.php and moved it to my main websites folder replacing the original index.php.

I also changed the settings in the simple portal settings, as the portalstandalone.php instructions mentioned. changing standalone mode to portal mode and making the standalone url http://beacongaming.net/index.php

when I reload the page I get the error,
 Fatal error: Call to undefined function sportal_init() in '/home/content/11/9263511/html/beacongamingnet/forum';

Any assistance or tips would be awesome, as I'd love to make the simple portal my index page. I wasn't sure if is should start a whole new thread for this or add on to the original.
