ERROR 500
« on: October 07, 2014, 10:19:10 PM »
I can not install SP ...

Whenever I try to install my server down ...

ERROR 500

I configured the CHMOD 755 folders and 644 files in, and yet still having trouble.

He also tells me that I need to authenticate the FTP to set permissions, but I already did that.

Also this screen appears:

Install in Other Themes
To use this modification in themes other than the default, the package manager needs to make additional changes to the other themes. If you'd like to install this modification in the other themes, please select These themes below.
Core Theme
Tree Extract / home / lojaglobo / public_html / notebookajuda / Themes / core / images / sp
Tree Extract / home / lojaglobo / public_html / notebookajuda / Themes / core / images / admin

I do not know what else to do.

Could someone help me?

If you think you have set all the file permissions correctly but still get errors, I would ask support on your server host. Some webhosts have strange settings/configuration. I had problems once with ipage.

I would use some screenshots for support so the errors are clear to see.

Please remember, there is no need to start multiple topics for the same issue.
If you posted in the wrong board, then it will get moved by a staff member. :)

After manually run the file install2.php, my error log is empty, but still keep getting the ERROR 500 when I try to install.

I do not know what else to do

Please have a look at this article: (particularly the last part)

http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=solving_install_problems

If that doesn't help you, then the only option I can suggest is to install it manually. Unfortunately I'm not very knowledgeable about solving such problems.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Well,

The solution was to install Simple Portal manually ...

I believe the problem is in the "permissions" from Hostgator, preventing the implementation of the SP.

How did the manual installation, I still have some problems, but gradually I am solving.

Thank you all and may close this topic.

I used Hostgator and it was generally ok for the cost, but there were file permissions problems.  I don't like their different account logins for domain and billing though.

Recently as 2 months ago I moved a website onto Hostgator and a free open source gallery (gallery-project). I have used it for about 8 years and not had problems moving webhost before. The server configuration wouldn't let the gallery scripts set up file permissions properly during install.
I tried using the cpanel automated setup scripts which most webhosts offer (SimpleScripts and Fantastico) and they both failed to install properly as well.
Hostgator technical support agreed there was a problem and it did get fixed, but why weren't popular free open source software packages they were providing not tested to make sure they worked?
