How to set the number of characters cut-off for general posts?
« on: October 16, 2014, 07:54:32 PM »

I don't really know where to set it.

I am able to set the number of characters cut-off for article post.

but how about a setting for general post? (I mean a post preview from recent post not from the article post)

Please help me

I am not good at English and there is no my native language in International Support.

Thanks in Advance

Not sure what you mean "general posts".

If you mean posting in an SMF board then you need to ask support on SMF website.
http://support.simplemachines.org/

If you mean the Simple Portal  recent posts and topics block, then there is a cut off limit in the settings

There is a custom block for this:
http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=9138.0

Recent Topics/Posts with Post Preview
[Made by Blue][I hope you like it =D]

Description: A block that previews the recent topics or posts with or without scrolling.  Requirements: - SMF 2.0 GOLD - Simple Portal 2.3.5  SETUP INSIDE:
Latest Topics OR Latest Messages
Number of posts
Number of characters to output

Hello and welcome to SimplePortal!

That's probably the board news block you have there. So you can actually set the character limit by editing the block options. Go to Admin > SimplePortal > Blocks; click the edit icon for the Board News block; set the Maximum Characters option as the number of characters you want to be displayed.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...
