Blocks and Pages have completely disappeared.
« on: October 26, 2014, 03:07:30 AM »
Simpleportal pages and blocks have disappeared from appearing.  The mod and administrator are still there.  Thought there may have been an issue with a mod conflict but restored from a backup not involving mod.  Even the credits have gone missing from the footer, but everything else is in tact.  The blocks, pages, shoutboxes admin area still there like I can normally edit/add.  Uninstalled older version, then installed newest version.  Still nothing.  Go to pages and it just goes to main index of forum.  Any ideas?

Probably similar problem to this:
http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=13686.msg67466#msg67466

Maybe you uninstalled even though there were warnings from the package manager. That link explains 2 ways you can return your site to working order.

Just in case things went awry I backed up my site.  There was only one other mod I installed, so I "turned back the clock" to before it was installed.  So there shouldn't be any conflicts because it doesn't exist anymore.

Edited to add: I did keep my database in tact because there were postings I didn't want to lose, but I can't imagine the SQL database would have anything to do with it, but I could be wrong.  And is it weird the copyright is missing?

Not really, as it suggests file edits during install were not made. I've seen similar things before. It is also worth considering file permissions - can stop changes being made.

Now I can't uninstall at all.  It's not showing in my package manager, but only options are "list files" and "delete".  Says it doesn't exist for me to delete.  It's not showing in the package folder, but it still exists in the admin menu manager "simpleportal".  How do I delete this package completely?

Still confused how the restore files didn't fix the problem.

Your sentences are confusing....

It's not showing in my package manager,

So Simple Portal is not there and you cannot see any text 'Simple Portal'?

Quote
but only options are "list files" and "delete".
So it is there (if list and delete), just cant see 'install' or 'uninstall' link?

Quote
Says it doesn't exist for me to delete.
I dont understand this ...

I am not sure what you have done, and I'm no expert  :P
Always best to show screenshots so easier to understand. Maybe someone else can give a better answer ...

If I have problems with Mod code edits I'm not sure about then I clean out my files for SMF and put new ones back and start again.
I use the procedure described in my link above - use the SMF large upgrade package. Back up, delete everything except important files you want to save; settings.php, maybe avatars and attachments etc.
FTP the large upgrade package to your SMF folder and then visit your forum. You can then run the upgrade and log in your new SMF site. Then put back your mods.

It was as simple as the setting in general settings in portal mode.  Somehow got switched from integrated to disabled.
