Good Morning ForumMates,

This is such an obvious request that perhaps it already exists here or via SMF and I just missed it?

What I want is a block with a scrollable collection of members pics/avatars, and each pic would link to the member's profile page.  The look and feel  would be similar to facebook, et al.  There are already "Top Poster" and "Staff" blocks, so what I am talking about should be pretty straightforward, no?

This would not only be a "value added" feature, but also might encourage members to attend to their profiles which they normally don't, and which probably most members don't bother looking at.

Thanks, lah!

Just as an aside, Ultimate Profile was an attempt to make make a profile page more dynamic and useful.  It is admittedly an imporvement, I use it, but it is clunky and unattractive, and doesn't quite do the job IMHO.  The profile page concept needs to be redesigned from the bottom up to make it more modern and facebook-like.

Hi!

To be honest I think that doing such a thing would kill your server immediately. There's a reason, other than styling, as to why the memberlist is paginated, instead of a single enormous page - because the query would be immense.
The closest thing I can think of would be using the latest members block and add the avatars with some custom coding.

Burke Knight:
Well, that would all depend.
We'd need more information, as to number of members in each block, and what all exactly, you are trying to make out of this.

Yeah with a limit it could be doable, but don't expect the whole memberlist such as facebook friends or stuff like that ;)

Thanks for the reply guys.

Obviously, there would have to be a limit.  The top posters block is already very similar to what I am talking about.   In fact, it would be perfect. The only difference would be to expand the criteria to more than just "top posters"  or to display more thumbnails that the few that come up now.  I'm not technical, but it doesn't sound like that big a stretch from what we are already doing in top poster.
