Forum on Front Page
« on: July 23, 2009, 08:54:21 AM »
I've installed SP 2.2.2 on my SMF 1.1.10 forum and can't seem to get the forum to appear on the front page.  In Front Page mode, the portal appears fine, but there's no forum, or easy way for user to get to it.  In Standalone or Integration modes, no part of the portal appears.  The web site is www.musketeerfootball.com.  I'm thinking the problem could be that I've got the site set up so that going to that URL redirects you to the forum subdirectory.  I set it up that way in case I ever wanted to add a content front page, but that was before I found Simple Portal.  Any ideas on how to get the forum to appear?

What exactly do you want to do?

If you want to have your portal at 'www.musketeerfootball.com' and your forum at 'www.musketeerfootball.com/forum', then remove the redirect and use the 'Standalone' mode, you will then need to move your 'SPStandalone.php' file from your forum directory to your main directory, rename it to 'index.php'. You will also need to open it with some sort of editor so that you can change the SSI.php path.

If you just want to show blocks with SimplePortal (no portal), then use the 'Integration' mode, you will have to setup each block so that they show on certain pages (the default blocks only show on the portal). ;)

Good point, I really shouldn't give support on the run. ;)

@bjf123,
You might want to have a look over the topic/tutorial below for any forum button issues:

I don't mean the forum button.  Take a look at this site: www.cincysportscar.com to see what I'm trying to do.  On this site, the forum boards appear right under recent topics.  That's what I'm trying to do on my site.

Use the 'Forum Integration' mode, then set some of your blocks to display on the forum (with the advanced display options for each block - you can change the 'Display Options' when you edit a block), thats how you can do that.

I found that after I had posted my response, but couldn't edit my post to say it had been fixed.  It's all good now.  Thanks.
