Hey guys

Alright, I have a free website hosted somewhere on planet earh, the url is : http://www.onlinegaming.smfnew.com. How do I upgrade to the latest version so I can use the shoutbox? I registered yesterday.

Go to admin- Main- Packages and there you find a list of mods installed. In that find SP and un install it.

Later Go to admin-main-downloadpackages-browse sp 2.3 and upload, simply apply mod..

You are done. Make sure you back up all your files before doing it.

I now realise that your forum is a subdomain of smfnew.com..I think your options may not have the defaults which I was mentioning in other post.

Maybe you should ask this with your host support about this.

Ah, that is probably the sort of 'free' host that will have an automated system to setup SMF, and then give the 'admin' less control over their forums.

I would suggest asking them to upgrade their system so that it uses SimplePortal 2.3, or swap to a different free host, where you have to personally install the forum and portal (instead of a service like that host).

Although there are other sources as well (that's not necessarily the best), try doing a google search.

Do you have a package manager as described by the SMF documentation below?

I kant install the packages because I can't connect to the server pc.. It wont let me install packages on MY site admin panel.

If the package manager will not allow you to install packages and you don't have FTP access to try and change permissions, then that is an issue with your host.

Try asking their support people about it. You might want to suggest that they could upgrade their installer/software so that it uses SP 2.3, so that you can use it.

Well, that means that you are using MyBB right? SimplePortal only works for SMF, so you'll have to find a different portal for MyBB.
