Blocks on same page as boarddir?
« on: January 11, 2011, 04:44:40 AM »
I can't work out how to add my theme and SP version on my profile so I am a little lost.

I have pinkst forum theme on my site and have the latest version of SP

Current SMF version: SMF 1.1.12 - SP version 2.3.3

I have worked out how to move the boxes around and make a Directory but what I can't work out is how to show the forum on the same page in the middle of the boxes if that makes sense, please can someone help me I also have no idea where to ask so am sorry if this is in the wrong section.  :-[

you want blocks on the left/right of your forum right?
i think thats what you are saying

if so
click the edit button for your block
the look at Display Options
check Advanced Options
if you want the block on just the main page of forum do Select Actions check forum
if you want the block all boards Select Boards and check each board you want it displayed

How to show boxes and forum together
« Reply #2 on: January 11, 2011, 11:46:04 AM »
I'm not sure, but I think you want one of two things

* SimplePortal in integration mode http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=general_settings
This means you have no separate portal page, just portal blocks in your forum
* You want a portal page (frontpage or standalone mode), but you also want portal blocks in your forum -- Display blocks in forum http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=setup_blocks

After you make this big choice, you then have the opportunity to choose, block by block, which pages each block will show up on.

-----
You can change your forum profile (including those two profile fields) at http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=profile;area=forumprofile

I think what he's asking is how to make the blocks show up, and for that he needs to make sure that for each block the display settings are configured to show it where he desires.

Please be more clear.
Do you want your board dir to be on the "Portal" page?

I don't know what I have done, but I had already messed with some of what @Ares directed to do in his post, so I just messed with it some more and have got my forum on the home page with the blocks, first I went to general settings and set it too standalone and added the link to my home forum so when my members go to the forum they are directed to the forum which has the blocks either side. And then went and edited the blocks and went to advance and made them show up on the forum only.

I realise now the portal is like a home page for a forum, but I already have a home page I wanted blocks on either side of my forum with an updates pic at the top.
