SP 2.0.5 working, but finding errors in forum error log
« on: November 09, 2008, 12:06:46 PM »
All,

LOVE LOVE LOVE this portal! Have been using it since it came out.
However, since upgrading to 2.0.5, I've gotten a whole host of errors in my forum error log.

Now - the portal is working fine, so I'm not sure what the issue really is.
I can read the errors, but I don't understand why I'm getting them, since everything seems to be working ok.

Here's a sample:

8: Undefined index: sp-articlesAdd
File: /home/allsides/public_html/2sides/Themes/default/SPortal1-1.template.php (article_add sub template - eval?)
Line: 125

Unable to load the 'SportalAdmin.english' language file.

8: Undefined index: sp-articlesAdd
File: /home/allsides/public_html/2sides/Themes/default/SPortal1-1.template.php (article_add sub template - eval?)

Line: 107

What I want to know is....Can anyone tell me if it would be advisable to just do a complete fresh install of SP. In other words, uninstall all SP packages and then do a complete fresh install of 2.0.5?

Here is the list of the SP packages I currently have installed:

SimplePortal 2.0.2  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
SimplePortal 2.0.4  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
SimplePortal 2.0.1  [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
SimplePortal Classic 2.0.5   [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]

I am running SMF 1.1.6.
(and yes, I know there is an upgrade for SMF 1.1.7, but I haven't done that yet).

Apologies if these issues have been addressed, and I just haven't seen them.
If so, please direct me to the fixes.

Thanks,
LisaV

Hmmm for some reasons i think all your files are not updated...

Can you unpack the package and uploade all
*.english*.php into the directory /Themes/default/lanugage/, if you succecfull did this than all errors should disappear. :).

Ok...just completed that task, per your instructions.
I'll monitor my error log over the coming days, and hopefully this will take care of the problem.

I'll be back, if things go wonky again.

Thanks for your help!
Tal

Well....the funny thing is, the fix that was recommended in this thread was actually working. But, then I upgraded my forum to SMF 1.1.7, and also did a complete fresh install of SP 2.0.5...and now the same errors are back, see here:

http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=806.msg5555#msg5555

So, I'm going to try this fix again, and see what happens.
Hopefully, it will work again.

 :)

Thanks for checking!
I'll update with any issues, should they surface after this attempted fix.

Tal

Ok...I've applied the fix noted in this thread, and I'm still getting the errors when I add an article.

However, I've done some testing, and found that these errros only happen when:

#1 - I post a new thread, and use the "Add An Article" button at the top-right corner of the thread.

#2 - I find an existing thread, go into the thread itself, and use the "Add An Article" button.

In addition to getting the errors already posted earlier in this thread, in the #2 scenario I also get this error:

8: Undefined index: sp-categoriesDeleteConfirm
File: /home/allsides/public_html/2sides/Sources/Subs-SPortal1-1.php
Line: 118

I would guess that a way around this might be to grab fresh copies of the SPortal1-1.template.php and the Subs-SPortal1-1.php files and load them to their respective directories? I've already loaded a fresh copy of the SportalAdmin.english file, so that part is done.

But - I won't make that move until someone suggests I do that.
It looks like a few other people are having this issue, and I don't want to exacerbate the problem.

Thanks all!
Tal

I did that too...No result...the same errors, just like you.

Anyone have a chance to look into this yet?

The undefined index:sp-articlesAdd error is solved by Blue Dream in the topic: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=932.msg6142;topicseen#msg6142

The topic opened by me can be closed and marked as solved too.

I will join Talismen in this topic because the undefined index: sp-categoriesDeleteConfirm-error still appears in my forum when I add an article. (And I guess it will appear in your forum too Talismen).
That line 118 is:
Code: [Select]
'delete' => '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=spadmin;sa=categorydelete;id=' . $row['ID_CATEGORY'] . ';sesc=' . $context['session_id'] . '"' . (empty($row['articles']) ? ' onclick="return confirm(\'' . $txt['sp-categoriesDeleteConfirm'] . '\');"' : ''). '><img src="' . $settings['default_theme_url'] . '/images/buttons/delete.gif" alt="'.$txt['smf138'].'" title="'.$txt['smf138'].'" /></a>'

The issue is probably SPortalAdmin language file not being loaded there.

Anyway, this is fixed in the new version.

I had the same problem with 2.05 but this threat can now be marked as solved no?
