1) Portal page with no boarddir.
Please report your portal settings from the SimplePortal general settings page (please see http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=general_settings (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=general_settings) for more info)

2) Hack's Park Shoutbox does not know about SimplePortal.  Can you get it out of your index.template.php and it into a simplePortal block instead? Then, you can control where the block appears.

I do not understand.  Please give link to your site.

1) Admin>SimplePortal>General Settings.

2) Hack's Park Shoutbox makes a change on EVERY page on your forum. It does not care if it is SimplePortal or not. Take Hack's Park Shoutbox code out of your forum pages, or add code around it to check if this is the portal page.

Front Page mode -- that's good.
Please show a list of all your blocks.

Is Themes/default available, or did you completely replace it with your custom theme?

Do you have any other mods installed?

I have found there are two ways to separate the forum from the portal. The options (explained) are:

Quote
1) Frontpage - Visitors type techyworld.uni.cc and get forwarded to http://www.techyworld.uni.cc/forum/index.php

OR

2) Standalone - Visitors type techyworld.uni.cc and land on http://www.techyworld.uni.cc/index.php

Either option means the visitor has to click the "Forum" button to see forum boards.

By the look of your screenshots, you are currently set to option 1) Frontpage and if this is not the desired effect, you will need instructions on setting up option 2) Standalone mode. See PortalStandalone.php for more info, or reply to this post and I'll have a go at explaining the procedure for you.

PS. As AngelinaBelle says: You have 2 shoutbox mods installed, one in SimplePortal and another one called Hack's Park Shoutbox - you need to deal with those before you do anything else.

It is not normal for SimplePortal, in FrontPage mode, to show the boarddir on the portal page.

Something is interfering with its ability to do things the way it is supposed to do them.

You have a bunch of mods installed, some of which change the forum's "front page" behavior -- what happens at the URL index.php.

I think probably one of these mods is incompatible with SimplePortal.
I don't know which one.

Maybe it is "Welcome Message" (which you don't need with SimplePortal because you can use a block for htat). Maybe it is another one....

I had a similar issue from a mod install, only my portal page was completely blank! I think angelina's right. I recovered by inspecting and comparing each index file carefully.

You have a lot of mods installed.
My guess is that one of them doesn't get along well with SimplePortal.

In order to figure out the problem, you may have to deal with them one at a time.

Probably the only way to figure this out is to uninstall mods until Simpleportal's portal page works properly.  Then you'll know which one caused the problem.

I've read about other users combining SMF Articles with SimplePortal successfully, so it is probably not that one.

It looks like you are using Simpleportal 2.2.1? It would be worth your while to come up to SimplePortal 2.3.3, I think. We'll be able to give you better support on the current version.

I understand: the boarddir is showing up on your portal page, and you don't want it there.

You have chosen SimplePortal settings that should have no boarddir on the front page, and you are not using any custom SimplePortal blocks to put it there.

So just fiddling with SimplePortal is not going to solve this problem.

I think one of your mods is not compatable with SimplePortal.

It will take some work on your part to figure out which one is causing the problem.

Uninstalling in the reverse order you installed might be difficult, since you've done SMF updates between  mod installations.

In the end, you might need to uninstall everything, start with a fresh SMF install, and install mods one by one until you figure out which one does not play well with SimplePortal.

If removing all the other mods does not fix the problem, it would be tedious to go through and try to find any problems with old installs/uninstalls that could cause this problem.

In this case
1) Capture and save any customizations you have done to any of the files, so you can apply them again later

2) Start from scratch, with fresh, clean php files in /, /Sources/, and /Themes/
You probably don't need to mess with the img files.

3) Install SimplePortal.  Test it.

4) Install one other mod.  Test. Repeat until you run into a problem, or until you get all the necessary mods installed.

Did you try using standalone mode yet? If it works the boards won't show up.

mez,
boarddir also should not show up at /index.php in FrontPage mode.
boarddir should only show up at /index.php in integration mode
