Portal forum excerpts | How to shorten?
« on: May 15, 2012, 07:07:04 PM »
Hello,

I am using SMF version 2.0.2
Simple Portal version 2.3.5

On my website (http://www.tampabayfishingonline.com) I would like to shorten the length of the posts from the forum located in the center block. How do I control the length of these excerpts?

 Thank you.

Oops sorry the topic was missed Tampa.

How did you solve the issue?

I do like the theme btw.

It was solved by editing the block it was in. There is a prompt in the block that asks character length for each post. Silly me.  :D

I do have another problem though. I want to add a poll to my left sidebar/blocks and when I am creating the block it is asking me for the topic id. Since I am using pretty URL's how would I find this topic ID? I can find the board ID but not the Topic ID.

Thanks for any assistance.

If its the recent topics custom block you can, as you said, edit the character cut off length in the block setup area.

Also, if you use articles you can set the cut off limit in the SP configuration for articles.
