Help Inserting Code into Custom HTML block - Completed
« on: June 29, 2011, 11:15:58 PM »
Arvo All,

I need to insert the following code into a Custom HTML block.  I have searched the forums for limitations but couldn't find anything.  The css & js file have been uploaded to the default themes folder.  Any help would be appreciated.

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<script src="SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<link href="SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
</head>

<body>
<div id="TabbedPanels1" class="TabbedPanels">
  <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
    <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0">NFL</li>
    <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0">Yahoo Sports</li>
  </ul>
  <div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup">
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">Content 1</div>
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">Content 2</div>
  </div>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
var TabbedPanels1 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("TabbedPanels1");
//-->
</script>
</body>
</html>

Re: Help Inserting Code into Custom HTML block - Updated

Morn All,

I think I have it figured out but still need some help if anyone knows what is going on.

I played around with the code in DW cs3 and was able to duplicate what I am getting when previewing it in SP custom html block.  This is what I have so far.

I am using the SMF default theme ao I uploaded a folder called SpryAssets to that directory.  The folder has the js & css files in it.

I inserted the following code into the custom html block.

<script src="SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<link href="SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

<div id="TabbedPanels1" class="TabbedPanels">
  <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
    <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0">NFL News</li>
    <li class="TabbedPanelsTab" tabindex="0">Yahoo Sports</li>
  </ul>
  <div class="TabbedPanelsContentGroup">
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">Content 1</div>
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent">Content 2</div>
  </div>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
var TabbedPanels1 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("TabbedPanels1");
//-->
</script>

When I preview it, instead of getting a tab panel I get the following.

        NFL
        Yahoo Sports

Content 1
Content 2

In order to duplicate the above in dreamweaver I put the above code in the body and removed the rest which worked fine.  I then removed the SpryAssets folder and I get the exact same thing as above instead of tabs.

With all that said, I think that I have the js & css files in the wrong place, does anyone know where I should put them ?

Thank you for your time.

Arvo All,

Just figured it all out so if anyone wants to save space by adding a tabbed panel in a custom HTML block I will be adding the code and instructions.  The tabbed panel is showing up and works fine, I will now be adding RSS feeds to the tabs so hopefully it will be all completed over the next couple of hours.

I will mark this as resolved and start a new thread once it is completed.

Morn All,

I have completed putting a tabbed pannel in a custom php block with rss feeds.  You can really put any info in the tabs you would like along with increasing and decreasing the amount of tabs.  The block is called "NFL News Feeds" and is located at www.thedallascowboysgang.com if you would like to take a look at it and see how it works.

I did run into a problem getting the NFL.com feed to work so I just dupped the last feed for now.  If anyone knows what caused the following error, any help would be appreciated.

XML error: Invalid character at line 8 (Error was received in an RSS Feed Block when I was trying to create it)
The RSS Feed url used was http://www.nfl.com/rss/rsslanding?searchString=home

Any help on this would be appreciated so that I can get the dup feed replaced with the correct one.

I will be spending the day cleaning up the code and start a new thread with all the info if anyone is interested.

Thank You For Your Time.
