Hello, I am running SMF 2.0.2 and just installed SP 2.3.4. As soon as I installed the package the page went to an error 500 and now will not load.
Ideas?
Thanks

Were there any errors when you installed the portal?
-
No, all tests were successful.
Thanks

What were your modifications on the forum - it may be the reason that something does not fit into one another

Only a couple, this is a pretty new install. Off the top of my head the only one I can think of is the anti-bot registration.
I suppose I'll have to manually uninstall the package and go from there. Too bad, I really like this mod!

Since it is new, just run a large upgrade and then try it again.

Ran a large upgrade and tried it again and got the error. Odd!
I'll try a manual install next and see how that goes.

Great... now doing the large upgrade doesn't fix the server error.
-
What are the server problem - some messages?
-
I think it may actually be server related, I'm having someone from the SMF forum help me. I'll post here if anything changes. Thanks

I think I had exactly the same thing.
I believe its because when you type in your FTP details to allow the install process to change the permissions on your files it goes ahead and changes the permissions on every file in your FTP so that they're not accessible. I did this once in a test sub-domain, and my main website and main forum disappeared with 500 server errors. I presumed it was unrelated and contacted my ISP. Support found the problem was that I had all the permissions set unreadable and they reset them.
Panic over so I went back to what I was doing and ran the script again. Same result! It was then that I realised what was going on!
I'm now trying to change the permissions required by Simple Portal manually to avoid the FTP part but the list doesn't give the full filenames so I'm a bit stuck. The list says:
The following files need to made writable to continue installation:
/home
/home/bfpvmfa/public_html/forum/Themes/classic/images/sp
/home
/home/bfpvmfa/public_html/forum/Themes/babylon/images/sp
/home
/home/bfpvmfa/public_html/forum/Themes/classic/images/admin
/home
/home/bfpvmfa/public_html/forum/Themes/babylon/images/admin
It seems like the images/sp are truncated. I don't suppose anyone has the list proper somewhere?
Thanks
Simon

I fixed my problem by deleting two themes which had screwed up paths, then the install worked properly.
Thanks

juice -- did you solve the problem? Was it related to permissions on your files?
