One member problem
« on: October 01, 2010, 09:34:07 AM »
I'm using SMF 2.0 RC3 and SP 2.3.2

One of our young members has contacted me to say that where she normally sees SP, all she can see now are the Powered by etc links at the bottom of the page.

It's working fine for me and others - I've tried resetting her profile to the SMF default theme but that hasn't helped - any ideas on what could be causing this please?

To give a bit more info on this - I've just tried changing my test account to the same group as this girl and this is what I see - the main list is what is actually there and anything with an x beside it is hidden:

RIGHT
Staff
More things to do - just other links  x
Arcade Info
Most Popular Games  x
Boring Stuff - just links to Rules etc
Board Stats   x

CENTRE
Shoutbox

Gallery Preview   x

Favourite Arcade Links

LEFT
User Info   x

Newest Member   x

Quotations

I've been back and forward through permissions etc until I'm dizzy but really haven't a clue why this is happening.

Thank you for your reply xpv40.

As I say, it seems to be something to do with her group - there's only her and her sister in the group - they are junior mods. Changing my tester profile to the same group I've checked it on IE, Firefox and Chrome and it's the same on them all. The ones with the x just aren't showing.

When the sisters login (same laptop) to their own accounts they still can't see anything other than Powered by etc.. When they login with the tester account they can see the same blocks missing that I see.

We have about ten groups and SP shows fine in all the others so it looks as though it has to be something to do with permissions but if that's the case I can't understand why they can see some of the blocks with tester as a junior mod but not see them on their own accounts as junior mods..

I put them into post-counted groups and deleted the Helpers group.
When I recreated it everything seemed fine until I made a Senior Helper group with permissions inherited from the first one then everything went to pot again.

I've run maintenance tasks etc., but nothing seems to be helping. Got a feeling it has to be an SMF problem so I'll go hassle on there.

Just in case anyone else has this problem, although I'd assigned ordinary permissions, when I created the new group I'd forgotten to go to admin/SP/blocks/actions/select permissions for each group
