We are now celebrating the release of SimplePortal Classic 2.0.5. This long awaited release contains many bugfixes and feature improvements, as well as SMF 2 Beta compatibility. As previously discussed, this version of SimplePortal doesn't contain the forum integration features that are currently being developed. Instead SimplePortal Classic is a simple version of SimplePortal that we are releasing and maintaining for users that only need a simple Portal.
For those of you that have been waiting for the forum integration feature, that will be coming in SimplePortal 2.1, which should be released in the coming week or two. It will also be compatible with both versions of SMF.
Whats new?
- SMF 2 Beta compatibility.
- Many bugfixes, thank you to the Beta Testers, General Public and the Team for reporting these issues so that they could be resolved.
- Small feature additions that improve the usability of SimplePortal, such as new links and admin help pop-ups.
For a full list of changes refer to the 'Changelog.txt' file within the SimplePortal package itself.
Where can I download it?
- The official SMF Mod site (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1104).
- Our very own SimplePortal downloads page (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=download).
Upgrading from SimplePortal 2.0.4?
Just upload the SimplePortal Classic 2.0.5 package and click on the 'upgrade' link in the SMF package manager, it will update you from SimplePortal 2.0.4 to SimplePortal Classic 2.0.5. Remember that this is a fairly major upgrade, so any custom edits that you have made to your 'SPortal' files will be undone (making backups first is a good idea).
Thank you for reading!

Hi Aw06, it does not mean stable or unstable.
The version is been tested properly.
They have meant the custom edits will be in problem . This happens only if you use a block called html block or php block.
You could simple the codes used in the block and we could upgrade and later on create the block.
If you have trouble upload. Let them know , and they will help you to upgrade it. :)
-
i know what it means, im just saying i have a few custom edits that will be undone
-
I made the upgrade in our test forum and everything was done without any errors, but a little problem I have.
The problem is the copyright.
We using the Overview theme and after the upgrade our footer of the test-forum looks horrible. :(
I was searching a lot, but sorry, where have I to search to correct the look of the copyright?
At the picture you can see how our test-forum footer is looking now

This maybe a dumb question, but is this release for SMF 1.1.6 too?

Yes ;)

Ok cool...I'll have to do it once I get the theme fixed and running properly.
-
Good work
thank you release support smf 2.0

Actually, Custom PHP, HTML or BBC blocks are not effected. The only problem occurs if you have actually edited those files themselves. For example, you might have asked for a small change to one of the normal SimplePortal blocks on this forum and then somebody may have posted an edit for the 'SPortal.php' file. Those are the edits that will be undone.

You don't need to worry about the SimplePortal Classic 2.0.5 upgrade replacing your SimplePortal files, unless you have personally edited those files or somebody has edited them for you. If that is the case then you may wish to backup your 'SPortal.php' file so that you can reapply the edits to the new 'SPortal1-1.php' file.
-
yeah, i have edits. some i got here, i guess i want need to reapply as 2.1 should have those features....
all in all ill wait for 2.1 :pirate:

Congratulations to the rest of the SP team for such an epic release. :)

It's a joke, Haito. We're not setting a specific release date, so we're just sarcastically throwing out ridiculous dates. ;)
