Blank Pages!
« on: May 10, 2009, 03:54:01 PM »
Hello,

I am using SMF 2 RC1 and SP 2.2.

I tried uninstalling it as I wanted to try a different portal to see differences etc.

I got a few errors which was odd as there wasn't any on the install.

Execute Modification   ./index.php   Test failed
Replace   ./index.php   Test failed
Execute Modification   ./Sources/Admin.php   Test failed
Replace   ./Sources/Admin.php   Test failed
Replace   ./Sources/Admin.php   Test failed
Execute Modification   ./Sources/Recent.php   Test failed
Replace   ./Sources/Recent.php   Test failed

Now every page is blank after the uninstall.

Sigh. Did you install any mods between installing SimplePortal and uninstalling it? That would have caused those issues.

If you post every one of those files as an attachment then I can remove SimplePortal from them. It would probably be easiest to upload those files within a .zip archive. :)

Thanks.

Why did the problem happen?

You had installed an Ads mod after you installed SimplePortal, they both add code to some of the same locations which means that if you uninstall the first mod (SimplePortal) before the other mod (Add mod) then the SMF package manager won't be able to perform the uninstall edits at those locations.

That meant that some SP code wasn't removed.

Marked as solved. :)

I tried the other portal.

Couldn't even get it to install but I need a portal need to the cool menu and sidebox etc.

The admin and recent failed and so I tried editing them and caused a problem.

I thought the admin file was ok but the recent one was just strange.

Attached two files plus screenshot of admin panel.

There were a few edits that had been applied twice for some reason, its possible that you clicked the same button twice, when you installed SimplePortal.

Try the attached files.

If you don't have many mods installed there, then try overwriting your Admin.php file with a clean copy, from a fresh install/package of SMF 2 RC1, then manually apply the necessary edits for your mods.

That will be the best way to ensure that there aren't any issues with that file...

Any updates on this issue Lukehluke? Is this issue resolved or do you still require assistance?

Did using a clean version of the Admin.php file help you?
