Staff block question
« on: April 25, 2009, 03:18:01 PM »
Hi ,
i have a quick question about the staff block,
is there any way to alter the position of the staff members on the list? it doesnt seem to go by name ( alphabetically) or post count ? is there any way in the settings i can move members up and down the list as it appears on the block?

i hope you understand what i mean?
Thanks,
Hellan

That block is sorted by group (admins, global moderators then local moderators) and then by member id within each group (ascending).

If you tell me how you want it sorted (ie. By username, registeration date, number of posts, etc) I can post a small edit that will do that. Moving specific members up and down the list will be harder, and won't be dynamic (you will have to change the code when you add new staff).

Hi thank  you for the answer, i had a feeling it would be in the code somewhere ( im still a noob at coding) it would be great if i could have it by reg date or descending member id (pretty much the same thing?)
if you could explain the code edit like you would to a 10 year old lol that would be great!! (where to find it, which bit to change etc)
Thanks again, i am really loving using simple portal.

The edits below are for your 'SPortal1-1.php' file. You will have to open that file using a code editor (like notepad++ or the one that is included with cpanel's file manager) and then search for the code that I have posted as 'find this code', then replace it with the 'replace' code.

Find this code:
Code: [Select]
$staff_list[$row['type'] . '-' . $row['ID_MEMBER']] = array(
Replace with this code;
Code: [Select]
$staff_list[$row['ID_MEMBER']] = array(
Find this code:
Code: [Select]
ksort($staff_list);
$icons = array(1 => 'admin', 'gmod', 'lmod');

Replace with this code;
Code: [Select]
krsort($staff_list);
$icons = array(1 => 'admin', 'gmod', 'lmod');

That edit should work perfectly. Could you please post your 'SPortal1-1.php' file as an attachment so that I can check the edit?

sure i did take the block off but i have put it back so you can see:
http://herpuniverse.com/main/index.php

how i would like it to be organisied is Admins (by date registered first to last) then mods ( by date registered first to last)

Hope that makes sense and thank you for the help

Ah, okay. I didn't think you still wanted them sorted by membergroup first.

Try these edits (undo the others first):

Find this code:
Code: [Select]
$staff_list[$row['type'] . '-' . $row['ID_MEMBER']] = array(
Replace with this code;
Code: [Select]
if (in_array($row['ID_MEMBER'], $admins))
$row['rtype'] = 3;
elseif (in_array($row['ID_MEMBER'], $global_mods))
$row['rtype'] = 2;
else
$row['rtype'] = 1;

$staff_list[$row['rtype'] . '-' . $row['ID_MEMBER']] = array(

Find this code:
Code: [Select]
ksort($staff_list);
$icons = array(1 => 'admin', 'gmod', 'lmod');

Replace with this code;
Code: [Select]
krsort($staff_list);
$icons = array(1 => 'admin', 'gmod', 'lmod');
