this one is good, must admit. ;D
this option will be best block option if you involve it in SP. I can explain why if you can't see the point. ;)
-
You can re-use the same block on many different pages in your forum/portal.
So creating an exact copy is usually not necessary.
The only time you MIGHT need to do this is if you want the block in the left side for one page, but in the right side for another...
-
nope, you 're wrong. :)
I must counteract to your post AB, it is not a re use one block.
Example, I use SP ie very much exploited it. It is engine of my home page, custom pages and much more.
my home page consists of top blocks. and all those blocks have same custom created css declarations, custom background, formatting text, custom permissions etc Frame is the same. To add new block and set all that parameters takes lots of time. The same is with custom pages what blocks are shown on which pages also need subsequently adjusting, frame the same. :)
For folks which use portal almost daily like me, that would be one of the top entries.

I agree it would be a very nice feature to have :)
-
I also agree with this!

What I'm planning for the next major version is the extensive use of profiles for permissions, display options and style options. With profiles you'll easily be able to re-use and modify those options.
-
That sounds nice Sinan :D

I understand. It is not the CONTENTS that are time-consuming to duplicate, it is all the formatting, permissions, etc, which is time-consuming to duplicate properly.
I agree. Although you can add a custom style class to a block title or body to help speed this up, there are still a lot of details which would make it useful to have a block profile (style, permissions, and "show on page" profiles) that you could easily re-use.
I'm glad to hear Sinan is working on something like this.
