If you can't do that, then please post your '{smfdirectory}/Themes/{themename}/index.template.php' file as an attachment.

mmm, this is weird, I still think the file is for 2.0, however, can yo post a link to your forum an attatch your Sources/subs.php file please ;)

yep, you are using 2.0:
Software Version: SMF 2.0 RC1-1 /taken from subs.php file line 8 ;)
try with this one and, are you sure you had installed simpleportal? because I had to make all the edits in subs.php no just the buttons one
