LED Scrolling In Block
« on: February 09, 2010, 12:19:04 PM »
    I had a led scrolling code setup in a html block which works great in all the main browsers except of course "IE". I had to disable it for now because in IE, it doesn't show and causes the news fader to lockup. If the code could be made to work in IE, would be appreciated. Thanks.

Code: [Select]
<p align="center"><object data="http://www.superpimper.com/generators/LED_Scroller/LED_Scroller.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="380" height="50">
  <param name="FlashVars" value="bt={ Zenyatta Returning At Santa Anita March 13 It Appears / Oaklawn Park Putting Up 5 Million To Try And Lure The Queens To Face Each Other / Quality Road Romps By12 Lengths } &cl={red}" />
  <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
  <param name="quality" value="high" />
  <param name="bgcolor" value="000000" />
  <param name="name" value="blipsy-sign" />
</object></p>

  <param name="quality" value="high" />
  <param name="bgcolor" value="000000" />
  <param name="name" value="blipsy-sign" />
</object></p>

Try this - but I use a php block instead:
Code: [Select]
echo '

<div id="led_display" align="center">
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true"  wmode="transparent" quality="high" bgcolor="black" width="380" height="50"  src="http://www.superpimper.com/generators/LED_Scroller/LED_Scroller.swf" FlashVars="bt={ Zenyatta Returning At Santa Anita March 13 It Appears / Oaklawn Park Putting Up 5 Million To Try And Lure The Queens To Face Each Other / Quality Road Romps By12 Lengths } &amp;cl={red}">
</embed></div>';

This works but gives warnings for W3C compliance due to the embed. (just a warning - no error)

     Hey Thanks - it's working now in IE. Only 1 thing - there is a small scroll bar now on the right side.

Set the height in the division.
Code: [Select]
echo '

<div id="led_display" align="center" style="width: 100%; height: 50px;"  >
<embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true"  wmode="transparent" quality="high" bgcolor="black" width="380" height="50"  src="http://www.superpimper.com/generators/LED_Scroller/LED_Scroller.swf" FlashVars="bt={ Zenyatta Returning At Santa Anita March 13 It Appears / Oaklawn Park Putting Up 5 Million To Try And Lure The Queens To Face Each Other / Quality Road Romps By12 Lengths } &cl={red}">
</embed></div>';

Or you can try setting it in the custom body style of the block and use the first code I posted.

Are you using this as a side block?

You have to adjust the style of the div (or in the blocks custom body style) to contain your display without the scroll bars.

    have it in a top php block

  Tried your second code but no luck. Then went back to your first code and entered 50px in Custom Body Class:  (didn't work) deleted the 50px and tried 50px in Custom Body Style: Still no luck.

  Go here in internet explorer - www.tbredjkie.co.cc and you will see it.

Try changing the height to 52px or something close to that.

If you're going to enter data in the custom body style, try this:
width: 100%;  height: 52px;

Try this bit of code using classid instead:

Code: [Select]
$message = "This is a test for the scrolling block...";

echo '
<div id="led_display" align="center" style="width: 100%; height: 52px; overflow: visible;"  >
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"
   codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0"
   width="380" height="50" id="Untitled-1" align="middle">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="movie" value="http://www.superpimper.com/generators/LED_Scroller/LED_Scroller.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="bt={ '.$message.' }&cl=sunrise" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
<embed src="http://www.superpimper.com/generators/LED_Scroller/LED_Scroller.swf" FlashVars="bt={ '.$message.' }&cl=sunrise" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="380"
   height="50" name="mymovie" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain"
   type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object></div>';

This should work with most browsers and doesn't flag any warnings in smf.

You can also use this other type of scroll block where you can adjust colors, scroll type and direction.

The up/down (movement) or stationary text must be restricted to 10 characters.. Scrolling left or right is approx. maxed out at 72 characters.
I would like to make it display wider and have more text that can be displayed but I don't think they made this script so variables can be adjusted although I'm not positive. I would probably have to write my own script to accomplish this.

Code: [Select]
/*
Set message type for each, to one of the following...
(default is none)
1 - Blink
2 - Pause
3 - Pause and Blink
4 - None

Text colors (default is ff0000):
Use a color code chart to set your text color for each
(use a 6 digit number without the pound symbol)

Direction of text effects (default is left):

RL - Left
LR - Right
TB - Down
BT - Up
NONE - None

*/
$count_text = 1;
$msg_info = '';

/* Choose all your settings and messages... */
$message_text[1] .= 'Blinking!!!';
$message_type[1] = '1';
$message_colr[1] = 'ff0000';
$message_dirs[1] = 'BT';

$message_text[2] = 'Scroll left to right...';
$message_type[2] = '2';
$message_colr[2] = 'cccccc';
$message_dirs[2] = 'LR';

$message_text[3] = 'Move down';
$message_type[3] = '3';
$message_colr[3] = 'ff0000';
$message_dirs[3] = 'TB';

/* Main code - START */

while ($message_text[$count_text] == true)
{
if ($message_type[$count_text] == 1) {$message_type[$count_text] = ".blink";}
if ($message_type[$count_text] == 2) {$message_type[$count_text] = ".pause";}
if ($message_type[$count_text] == 3) {$message_type[$count_text] = ".pause.blink";}
if ($message_type[$count_text] == 4) {$message_type[$count_text] = "NONE";}

if ($message_type[$count_text] == false) {$message_type[$count_text] = "NONE";}
if ($message_dirs[$count_text] == false) {$message_dirs[$count_text] = "RL";}
if ($message_colr[$count_text] == false) {$message_colr[$count_text] = "ff0000";}
$msg_info .= '[*='.$message_dirs[$count_text].$message_type[$count_text].' COLOR='.$message_colr[$count_text].']'.$message_text[$count_text];
$count_text = $count_text + 1;
}

echo '
<div id="led_display" align="center" style="width: 100%; height: 65px; overflow: visible;"  >
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"

/* Main code - END */

... Read the top of the block for details about the settings.
