As the instructions say, move the SPStandalone.php file from your forum directory, to the directory where you want to have the portal, in your case you will also then want to rename the file to index.php.

Nathaniel...
Thanks for the reply although as someone who is just learning with SP and SMF i did get a more detailed explanation over at SMF ....
quote..
nope, you shouls rename SPStandalone.php into index.php and move the file to your forum root directory:
mydomain.co.uk/forum form here to
mydomain.co.uk/
and second, nope, you completely misunderstand me :P you need to copy this:
if you are using 1.1.11:
go to admin/ Server Settings /Core Configuration SMF Directory
if you are usind 2.0RC2
admin / Server Settings... / Database and Paths / SMF Directory
copy that, it must be somthing like /home/misite/public_html/forum or somthing, just copy that, then paste it in to this:
// Should be the full path!
$forum_dir = 'full/path/to/forum';
like this:
// Should be the full path!
$forum_dir = '/home/misite/public_html/forum';
and thats all, now you upload your SPStandalone.php file to you site root folder: misite.com.uk/SPStandalone.php and rename it so you cna caal it like this:
misite.com.uk/index.php
Just for anyone else who may ask a similar question...its dead easy when you know how ;)
