Title: RSS Feed causing "Undefined index: description" error
Post by: fmmobley on December 16, 2011, 10:17:59 AM
I just added two RSS Feed blocks.   I immediately started getting the following errors:

---------------------------------------
http://mobleyfamily.info/forum/index.php?
8: Undefined index: description
File: /home/content/f/m/m/fmmobley/html/forum/Sources/PortalBlocks.php
Line: 2029
-------------------------------------------

I narrowed it down to one of the two RSS feeds.

This one gives the error:
http://www.peacecorps.gov/rss/peacecorpsnews.xml

This one does not give an error:
http://www.peacecorpsconnect.org/feed/

1.  Is there something I can do to keep the offending RSS feed and not get the error?
2.  If there is not, it is a harmful error, or, can I just ignore it and keep the RSS feed?

Thanks in advance,
fmmobley

They both seem to be working fine for me. Ar you sure that you have the full url in place? Also when pasting a url in the RSS line it sometimes leaves a space at the beginning. Make sure that there is no empty space at the beginning of the RSS url.

Ok, I just re-activated that block and confirmed that I had the url correct with no spaces anywhere.  Once again I start getting the errors...

8: Undefined index: description
File: /home/content/f/m/m/fmmobley/html/forum/Sources/PortalBlocks.php

Can you think of anything else?  I would really love for this to work.

Also, is it something I can just let go.  Are the errors something I don't need to worry about?

I don't know why this gives the error. It looks like the 'description' is not available, and is not getting filled in. Simple Portal could check that the index exists before trying to use it.

I do not think this is harmful.

I have reported this as http://simpleportal.net/index.php?issue=454.0
