Title: Problems installing SP 2.2.2 on SMF 2.0 RC1.2
Post by: Protoss on July 21, 2009, 10:44:13 AM
Ok, so I had the forums all working with SimplePortal running from my computer (I was putting it on my computer so I knew how to set it up when I put it on a dedicated host). I'm using the same version of both SP and SMF as last time, however this time when I try to install SP onto my forums, I get this error.
Code: [Select]
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writeable!I've checked that all the directories are writeable in the Packages folder are writeable, and that the packages folder itself is writeable, however I still can't get rid of this error.
Has anyone got any advice?
Thanks

Hello

You check if the other files are writable?

./index.php
./SSI.php
./Sources/Admin.php
./Sources/Display.php
./Sources/Help.php
./Sources/Load.php
./Sources/ManagePermissions.php
./Sources/ManageServer.php
./Sources/QueryString.php
./Sources/Recent.php
./Sources/Subs.php
./Sources/Subs-BoardIndex.php
./Sources/Subs-Boards.php
./Themes/default/Display.template.php
./Themes/default/languages/Who.english.php

This files must be writable.

Though it is saying the mod was successfully installed........

I tested on all languages, themes etc.

Did you try creating a "temp" directory in the Packages dir and set that to chmod 777? That solved the error in your first post for me.

Protoss,
Did you try creating a 'temp' directory as suggested by devnl? Usually that will solve any issues.
