shoutbox URL tag problem
« on: September 28, 2009, 12:20:31 PM »
I am using smf 2.0 rc 1.2 as well as simpleportal 2.3

My problem is my shoutbox, when I enable url code, it cuts the first part of the url out if it starts with ca. for example my url is http://canadiantacos.com if I was to put in [url ]http://canadiantacos.com[ /url] it shows up as nadiantacos.com and does not link properly.

for an example of what I am talking about please visit http://canadiantacos.com and look at my shoutbox

The second problem I am having is that when a url is entered into the shoutbox and is too long, it does not start again on the next line, instead the shoutbox stretches through my blocks on the right of the screen, this seems to only happen in firefox.

for an example of this please see my shoutbox at http://canadiantacos.com

The second problem I listed only seems to happen if the url has no spaces in it at all.

Why does the version on your forum shows as 2.3 RC1?
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

ok well I guess I was using the rc but I have upgraded to 2.3

it is still doing it though, when I post [url ]http://canadiantacos.com/index.php[/url ]

without the spaces of course

it shows up as this
nad: nadiantacos.com/index.php" class="bbc_link new_win" target="_blank">http://canadiantacos.com/index.php

also I just created an account and it is only happening with my user and I am guessing it has something to with the fact that my user name is in the url that is being posted.

it appears to be the feature that links usernames when they are in a post that is causing the problem but I dont know where to disable it.

There is a bug relating to usernames not being checked for the preg_match function. Try the edit below:
Code: ("Find (sources/Subs-Portal.php)") [Select]
preg_match('~^<div\sclass="meaction">\* ' . $shout['author']['name'] . '.+</div>$~', $shout['text'])
Code: ("Replace with this code") [Select]
preg_match('~^<div\sclass="meaction">\* ' . preg_quote($shout['author']['name'], '~') . '.+</div>$~', $shout['text'])
What is your username on that site?

See if this fixes it:

Subs-Portal.php

Code: (Find) [Select]
$shouts[$shout['id']]['text'] = preg_replace('~(' . preg_quote($user_info['name'], '~') . ')~', '<span class="shoutbox_me">$1</span>', $shout['text']);
Code: (Replace) [Select]
$shouts[$shout['id']]['text'] = preg_replace('~(\s+' . preg_quote($user_info['name'], '~') . ')~', '<span class="shoutbox_me">$1</span>', $shout['text']);
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...
