Title: You don't have permission to access /forum/index.php on this server.
Post by: WingZero on May 21, 2010, 11:00:16 PM
Hello,

When I goto Admin -> SimplePortal -> Blocks -> Add Blocks -> Custom HTML -> Inside the HTML if i post any type of code I get the following error message:

Code: [Select]
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /forum/index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.15 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.15 OpenSSL/0.9.8n DAV/2 mod_fcgid/2.3.5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.website.com Port 80

If I just post TEXT no code, it'll create the block.... Does anyone know how to fix this? This never happend before, all I did today was install two packages Display Signatures Only Once Per Page and Signature Option Post but I uninstalled those. What can I do

forums/index.php is 755 chmod, i didnt change any permissions personally

I tried adding the "img/img]" code, it worked but when i use like <a href="http://www.web.org" target="_blank">

It'll give me that error message.

Paste the exact HTML you're putting in. Does it only happen with particular links?

If it happens with HTML in general... a workaround is to use BBcode instead. Look over your server configuration and make sure everything is writiable and readable.

No, not with particular links I can't use

For an example
Code: [Select]
Site Navigation<br />
<img src="divider.gif" /> <a href="http://www.website.org/forum/index.php">Homepage</a><br />
when I use this, i cant even Add it as a block OR preview it ..the error message will popup 404 etc etc.

but I can use
Code: [Select]
Site Navigation<br />
<img src="divider.gif" />
with no problems

Here is my HTML code:

Here is the error message I get when I press Edit Block and/or Preview (This previously worked before in fact just the other night and still does work I just cant EDIT it anymore because I'll get the error message)

I did not do any major editing to SMF or SimplePortal, I installed 2 compatible simple mods that give the users the option to hide their signatures on the forums when posting + only show 1 signature per user each forum page. I uninstalled both anyway and it's gone so I don't think this is the problem.

I also did some .htaccess editing heres what i have in my /forum/ directory for .htaccess:

Code: [Select]
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^sitemap.xml$ /forum/index.php?action=sitemap;xml

Forum Error Log message when I click Preview/Edit Block:

Code: [Select]

Hm. Do you have the mod_security module enabled?

Hello,

I found the error. HostGator rolled out new mod_security rules for their hosting. They didn't notify any customers via email, I wasn't the only one to have a problem with the 403 Permission error.

From the host:
