Login Problems with Gallery Block Enabled
« on: August 29, 2009, 06:21:02 PM »
OK.. Have come across a small problem that I am hoping someone can help me with.
When I have the Gallery block enabled and try to log in as a normal member, all I see on the screen is a thumb of one of the gallery images and the url in the web browser shows the following:
index.php?action=mgallery;sa=media;id=5;thumb

If I remove this and refresh, I can get back to the normal portal page and I am logged in.. but I don't think this should be happening.

Currently using SMF2.0 RC1.2, SimplePortal 2.2.2 and Media Gallery 2.0 Beta 4

My test site can be seen here:
http://www.ozsuperbikes.com

And if you want to test the login let me know and I can PM you account details for a test user.

No they ca not... but they can see the Gallery block and images for some reason. That doesn't really bother me as they can only see the 4 random images and need to log in or register to see the whole gallery.

Try letting guests see the Media Gallery and see if this issue persists.

A test account would be useful.

Username: testuser
Pass: testpass09

I may have solved it now though. I think it may have been one of the themes that I was testing. I have removed this.. and the test account doesn't seem to have problems at the moment.
Although.. at the moment a new user will see the gallery block but no thumbs.
is there a way to allow a guest to see the block images.. but not acutally access the gallery?

There have been similar odd issues like this in the past (http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=1272.0).

Not sure about a fix for it, because its hard to work out the issue, especially if it doesn't happen all the time. I couldn't see it happening on your site, with that testuser.

Yeah as mentioned.. I think it may have been a theme causing it. Will keep a eye on it though.

Is there a way to show guests the images in the block.. but not the gallery itself?

Yep, perform the edit below:

Find this code (SPortal2.php):
Code: [Select]
        loadMGal_Settings();
Replace with this code:
Code: [Select]
        loadMGal_Settings();
        $user_info['mgallery_query_see_album'] = '1=1';

I haven't tested that, but it should work. ;)

Actually it should be about that easy, I just forgot to check if the $user_info variable it accessed by that block, which it isn't. :P

Try the updated replace code below.
Code: [Select]
        loadMGal_Settings();
        global $user_info;
        $user_info['mgallery_query_see_album'] = '1=1';

Okay, remove that code then.

I did an install of Media Gallery for SMF 2 RC1.2, I can't see the issues that you are having. Make sure that you have each Album set so that Guests can view them. On my install at least, that doesn't make the Gallery visible to Guests, but it does show the images in the Gallery block.

Thanks mate.
I'll try it again on a fresh test conversion soon. Maybe something in the conversion that is still buggy so waiting for the SMF2.0 converter to be fixed and start again ;)
