Title: Copyright shows when Portal is set to "disabled"
Post by: ccbtimewiz on August 26, 2011, 11:58:51 PM
For SMF 2.0 Gold

Admin > SP > General Settings > Portal Mode > "Disabled"

The copyright still shows in the footer, yet the portal is not showing anywhere.

In addition to this, if I use "Front Page" mode, every page has the copyright yet the only page to have SimplePortal actually on it is the home page.

Now I can understand the argument "SimplePortal auguments all your files therefore the copyright should show all the time". I can respect this viewpoint, however the way the layout is generated shows no modifications and my customer has the complete right to not have SP's copyright showing when it shouldn't be.

This is coming solely from a professional view, and nothing of my own opinion of the matter, but I would like to know if I can have permission to augment the files to reflect this, or for you to fix it as the SP team.

I shall place this in Bug Reports for now and see how it goes.

Just a bug, I believe.

There's also an interesting case with SMF 2.0. With the BSD license, SMF owners can now legally remove SMF's copyright, but they cannot legally remove SP's copyright. So that's something we need to look into for the next version.

Yeah, I was going to bring that up as well.

Hopefully the next version of SP follows suit to what Simple Machines is doing, and if not at least fix this bug as you call it.

Thanks. :)

Yeah, I guess we can make it so that copyright is not displayed when portal is disabled.
