Title: Installed 2.3.1 but have question re: shoutbox being viewable to guests (kinda)
Post by: Talismen on October 20, 2009, 02:36:32 PM
Hello to all at SP (and Happy Halloween for those who enjoy the holiday  ;) )

The new SP (2.3.1) looks great! Thanks to all of you for your hard work! It is muchly appreciated  :applause:

One question though:

I currently have the shoutbox viewable only on the portal. (I'm not even sure if it's an option to have it on the entire forum or not. I've not experimented with it that much yet). Anyway - I notice that when I log out of my forum, I can see the block name on my shoutbox, and then this inside the block (where my shoutbox would be):

Sorry, this shoutbox does not exist.

I don't allow guests to post in the shoutbox. Is that why that shows up like that when someone isn't logged in? Is there a way to change what this says, or simply hide it from guest view altogether?

I currently have my "Shoutbox List" permissions set to "All membergroups" but then have only a few select member groups chosen to use/view the shoutbox. I figured "All membergroups" would only recognize the ones allowed by permissions. (??)

Should I change the setting to "One Membergroup"? Would that then recognize the few membergroups I do have set to use the shoutbox? Or, should I set it to "Ignore Permissions"?

Any thoughts?

Thanks all!
Tal

Crap - nevermind.
I just found it.

It was in the "Blocks" config, and not the "Shoutbox" config.

Thanks for your time anyway ;)
