Question about Standalone setup
« on: September 22, 2009, 09:45:24 PM »
I've got standalone setup, and all is working OK, except the following

My HOME button goes to the FORUM, same as my FORUM Button.

I thought it must be "Disable Portal Redirection" - but I've tried it both "enabled" and disabled" - this does not affect the problem. I've also tried this while clearing my cookies and cache... no luck....

I also have the standalone URL set to the path of the PortalStandalone.php (renamed to index.php)
thus:
http://mydomain.com/homepages/index.php

I've set the URL path in that index.php to:
/home/myid/public_html/forum/

What am I missing - aaargh LOL

Thanks!

You need to set the 'Standalone URL' setting in your admin area under SimplePortal -> Configuration -> General Settings.

Edit: I need to learn to read better. ;)

Are you using a custom theme?

Are you using a custom theme?

I am, and that's probably the problem.

Here's the Home Button code from my custom them (saradisi)

Code: [Select]
// Show the [home] button.
echo '<li', $current_action == 'home' ? ' id="active"' : '', '><a href="', $scripturl, '">' , $txt[103] , '</a></li>';

I see the Default Theme for the Home Button is
Code: [Select]
// Show the [home] button.
echo ($current_action=='home' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action == 'home' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 3 ? $modSettings['sp_standalone_url'] : $scripturl), '">' , $txt[103] , '</a>
</td>' , $current_action == 'home' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

Can you help? Thanks!!!

If it's a big issue, I could always put a direct link into that code to make it go to the portalstandalone.php file, would that be better?

Try the code below for your custom theme.
Code: [Select]
// Show the [home] button.
echo '<li', $current_action == 'home' ? ' id="active"' : '', '><a href="', ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 3 ? $modSettings['sp_standalone_url'] : $scripturl), '">' , $txt[103] , '</a></li>';

Sadly, that did not work. I also tried to be sure I tried both settings on "Disable Portal Redirection"

again, would it be a good idea to just  put a direct link in to the portalstandalone.php?

You're help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

FWIW, the default theme is working correctly, so looks like you nailed it, it's most likely the custom theme!

If you haven't edit that custom theme for the 'forum' button, then you may need to add this code to the start of the 'template_menu' function.

Code: [Select]
global $modSettings;

i'm glad that I could be of assistance. :)

If you haven't already, then I would suggest that you have a look at the General Custom Theme Tutorial, which shows you how to properly add your forum button to your custom theme. If your button 'highlighting' isn't working properly, then that can help you fix it. :)

I'm really glad you were there to help. I've been running SMF for 3 years on another forum, but without a custom theme. The custom themes have thrown me for a loop. I've spent three days going in circles trying to get to know Simple Portal, and and a new custom theme, and it's been difficult - just all the new things to drive me crazy LOL

I did read, and try to apply the General Custom Theme Tutorial, I guess my try failed, mostly cause I'm taking on too much at one time!

So, thanks a bunch!!
