I'm trying to install SP 2.3.4 on SMF 2.0.2. Sometimes it will show the install page and say all tests were successful, but then has an error when I hit install. It says maximum execution time exceeded. Other times it gives that same error before it even performs the tests. Very frustrating. Please help.

Okay, I fixed it myself and here's how I did it. First I changed all the file permissions to writable in the package manager. Then I deleted all my themes. Then I installed SP. Then I reinstalled the themes. It seems to be working perfectly.

That is good. I have never heard of the themes being the cause of the problem, if they are properly installed.

Sounds like a cheap hosting plan - exceeding execution time probably because of so many themes (?) the make edits to.
