Invalid RSS Feed with 2.3.4
« on: December 03, 2011, 05:22:42 PM »
So i knew that the feed I was trying to add to an RSS block didn't work with 2.3.3 but with the release of the update I thought I would try again and I'm still getting the same error when I try and make the block.  The feed I'm trying to add is http://www.swtor.com/feed/news/all I ran it through the validator and it did come up with a missing DOCTYPE so maybe that is the issue.  Any help would be great.

Thanks

I am  getting "Invalid Feed" with that link when I tried it on my site. Have you tried feeds from other sources? I use all CNN feeds for my site and they all work fine.
See if this link works for you.
http://rss.cnn.com/rss/cnn_world.rss

If it does then there must be something wrong with the feeds supplied by swtor.com

 ;)

Yeah that CNN one works.  This isn't a big deal just would have been nice to actually get the feed working in a block here since it is a valid and it feeds into my e-mail all the time.  Maybe it's because the swtor one doesn't end in .rss?

That could indeed be the case here. Any feeds that I have attempted that did not end in .rss have not worked.
Maybe contact swtor.com and see if they would consider changing the RSS urls to end in .rss.

Yeah I guess it would have been more of a luxury than anything having that feed on my page.  I thought maybe there would have been an easy work around since the new version of SP was released.  I doubt they would entertain the idea of changing the suffix for their rss feeds just for one person when they have millions going there daily LOL

I understand that. But the question is; How many people get a bad feed from theme and just don't speak up?
I am not sure if there is anything that I can do to help but I will try looking through some files and see if I can find a solution.

Not promising anything.  ;)
