SimplePortal Manual Installation Help
« on: November 26, 2009, 10:57:01 AM »
Hey SimplePortal!

I had to manually install SimplePortal, due to a couple ./Source issues, I completed all of the file edits.

But now it comes to the time where I need to execute install1-1.php which is normally executed by Package Manager, I've tried going to the URL (mydomain.com/forum/Packages/install1-1.php) receiving the Forbidden error (obviously because it was in Packages), so I moved it out to /forum and tried going to the install file, only receiving a 505 Server Error.

How can I execute this file?

(Also just wanting to confirm this is correct, in the install guide it says "
Move the included directory "smf1/Sources" to "the root directory".
Move the included directory "smf1/Themes" to "the root directory"."
if I were to move the directory "/Sources" and "/Themes" it would override my current, so what I did was simply moved the content of /Sources to /Sources and same thing with the template files. Is that also correct?)

Thanks,
Labradoodle-360

When you overwrite a folder in a file system, it only places the content. Meaning that, when it moves that entire folder and overwrites, the only files that get overwritten are the ones in that folder you're moving (which are none, it is just adding more files).

For the installation error, why not just run it through the Package Manager? :)

So you mean run JUST the install1-1.php file through Package Manager?

Also, how do I disable settings for SimplePortal through the database or files?

I enabled a block not knowing the tables were not created and I'm receiving a database error:

Table 'cbeers_smf.smf_sp_blocks' doesn't exist
File: /home/cbeers/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs-Portal.php
Line: 293

I need an answer to this very shortly, or I'll have to find something else.

I guess I should update my question to, how do I basically reset options in the database for Admin options? I checked something in the ACP that caused a database error, since there's no place for that data to be stored.

So, where can I remove that option I checked so I can install, install1-1.php?

Sorry for the long wait.

The install1-1.php file needs to be uploaded to the same directory as your SSI.php file (ie. your forum's main directory). Then you will need to run it using your webbrowser by opening the relevant url.

Try running it, then report any remaining database issues.
