Custom HTML block with a Linked image!
« on: August 09, 2012, 05:36:09 PM »
Not sure if this is a Bug or I'm doing something wrong, therefore I'm sure if this is the right spot.

OK I created a custom HTML top block with a linked image and placed it in one of the boards. The problem is that the first thread in that board can not be edited, when i click on modify in one of the posts i cant do anything (I don't get a cursor & when i click the mouse i see a hand) and in some areas of the edit screen i can click and a new page opens to where the image of that board is linked to.

So is this a bug or have i done something wrong, or maybe there is a better way of putting in a linked image.

Any help with this would be appreciated, thanks.

Oh and when i deactivated that block the edit problem was gone, i could edit any post in that first thread.

Ozzy Mozzy,

Imo an error in the html is most likely causing issues on the page of the board where the block is displayed.
SP itself does not appear to have any issue with displaying html blocks while editing posts (initial post of a thread or otherwise).
Please post the html block you are referring to.

<a href="http://www.largescaledownunder.com.au/index.php/topic,462.0.html" target="_blank">

Ozzy Mozzy,

To ensure that code is posted properly inside threads, please use the bbc code tags to surround said code.

A simple unclosed link is causing your issue.

Use this:
Code: [Select]
<center><a href="http://www.largescaledownunder.com.au/index.php/topic,462.0.html" target="_blank">
<img alt="Gumbuya Park 1/5th Scale Track" title="Gumbuya Park 1/5th Scale Track" src="http://www.largescaledownunder.com.au/banner/Gumbuya.png" width="500" height="253" /></a></center>

I would like to mention that center tags are actually being deprecated whereas other tags with style attributes are to be used.

ie.
Code: [Select]
<div style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://www.largescaledownunder.com.au/index.php/topic,462.0.html" target="_blank">
<img alt="Gumbuya Park 1/5th Scale Track" title="Gumbuya Park 1/5th Scale Track" src="http://www.largescaledownunder.com.au/banner/Gumbuya.png" width="500" height="253" /></a></div>
