Mini calendar php block and Holidays

I use a php block which displays the calendar , events, birthdays and holidays in one block. This works very well with one annoying(for us) exception.
We have school holidays entered on our calendar. So for Autumn half term there will be 5 holiday entries with the same description. Is there a way to amend this block code to show consecutive holiday entries with the same title to show as one item in the block ie. "Apr 1-Apr 17: School Holidays".

I've had to include the block code as a file as it exceeds the 20000 character limit.
