I just didn't want to go ahead and do it, and lose all of the information that I currently have.

I am using a custom theme, Is their any other changes I have to make or will a uninstal, reinstall do it?

I think not much.. Did you try checking if all the uninstallation steps are taking place correctly or if some of them are failed.

If all steps are successful, then there is no worry.  :) you can do it all by yourself, just a two click job.

If you uninstall the old version and then install the new version, no data should be lost as SP doesn't remove your data when you update.

You should backup your data though, just in case. ;)
