Display Shoutbox on another page
« on: May 05, 2010, 07:56:25 AM »
This is a question about what code to use to show a shoutbox on a page.

I understand SimplePortal has display options that I can choose where its displayed. This is for another page not linked to my forum at all (minus SSI.php). I have code setup that creates a shoutbox for a user (if they so choose). I'm looking for the code needed to display said shoutbox on a page created for that user. I noticed /Sources/PortalShoutbox.php looks like it houses the code for it, but cannot seem to call that function.

Simply put, I'd like to display a shoutbox manually using PHP code for a custom page I've created for my users.

If your using SSI.php with that particular page, then you could look at using the 'sp_shoutbox' function from the "Sources/PortalBlocks.php" file, you could try to adapt the code from that function or call the function itself (with the correct parameters).

Could I possibly get an example of passing the parameters? I am not sure. I tried leaving it null and just letting the shoutbox use default parameters, but did not work out like I thought. Am I reading this right?

function sp_shoutbox($parameters, $id, $return_parameters = false)

Code: [Select]
sp_shoutbox(,1,true);

Trying to use default parameters, id 1, and bool true. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here.

Bump.

Can I please see an example of where SimplePortal calls sp_shoutbox() as I cannot seem to find it anywhere. I've looked in both the Sources and Themes directory and find no reference to that function directly.
