Tweet feed in a custom block
« on: March 13, 2011, 07:55:51 AM »
Hi all,
just wanted to let you know that there is an easy way to add your (or someone else's) tweets to your portal.
It fits ok, at least for me, so I thought of letting you know as I enjoy simple portal and I'd like to give something back.
Tho, stuff is in german, you can use it for english as well.
Here's a quick translation:

Twittername    = Name (e.g. Tweetname)
Anzahl der Tweets    =number of tweets to post
Breite    =width (in pixels)
Hintergrundfarbe =background color
Textfarbe    =text color
Rahmenfarbe    = frame color
Linkfarbe    = hyperlink color
Zeige Follow-me Link = show follow me link
Sprache =Language

Once you filled it with your data, hit that button below saying "widget erstellen", what just means "create widget".

at all, thats it. If you want to use it in SP's bottom position, you might also want to set the width to 100% as it just looks better.
that could be done easily if you just adjust the first line of the code from px to %.

Code: [Select]
<style type="text/css">#twitter-widget{width:100%;padding:2px(...)
Here you go with the link: http://www.naden.de/blog/twitter-widget
Hope that was helpful to someone.

So long and thanks for a great portal!

There is an easier way of doing this:

Just get a Twitter widget from Twitter, modify it as you need (be sure to check the variable width option), and post the code into a HTML block. Voila! Same works for Facebook, but you have to set the width yourself by trial and error.
