Title: Forum button missing
Post by: Dafe on November 27, 2011, 10:13:09 PM
I already look at the tutorial but most of the code isn't there. This is the index.template.php code.

Code: [Select]
<?php
// Version: 2.0 RC3; index

/* This template is, perhaps, the most important template in the theme. It
contains the main template layer that displays the header and footer of
the forum, namely with main_above and main_below. It also contains the
menu sub template, which appropriately displays the menu; the init sub
template, which is there to set the theme up; (init can be missing.) and
the linktree sub template, which sorts out the link tree.

The init sub template should load any data and set any hardcoded options.

The main_above sub template is what is shown above the main content, and
should contain anything that should be shown up there.
f
The main_below sub template, conversely, is shown after the main content.
It should probably contain the copyright statement and some other things.

The linktree sub template should display the link tree, using the data
in the $context['linktree'] variable.

The menu sub template should display all the relevant buttons the user
wants and or needs.

For more information on the templating system, please see the site at:

You should really specify your SMF version and SP version although I assume by that post that you are currently using SMF 2.0 RC3 & Simple Portal 2.3.4.

That file has nothing to do with any buttons.
The code that adds the home & forum button to the menu buttons array is located in: Sources/Subs.php

excerpt:
Code: [Select]
// All the buttons we can possible want and then some, try pulling the final list of buttons from cache first.
if (($menu_buttons = cache_get_data('menu_buttons-' . implode('_', $user_info['groups']) . '-' . $user_info['language'] . '-' . empty($context['disable_sp']), $cacheTime)) === null || time() - $cacheTime <= $modSettings['settings_updated'])
{
$buttons = array(
'home' => array(
'title' => $txt['home'],
'href' => $modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 3 && empty($context['disable_sp']) ? $modSettings['sp_standalone_url'] : $scripturl,
'show' => true,
'sub_buttons' => array(
),
'is_last' => $context['right_to_left'],
),
'forum' => array(
'title' => empty($txt['sp-forum']) ? 'Forum' : $txt['sp-forum'],
'href' => $scripturl . ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 1 && empty($context['disable_sp']) ? '?action=forum' : ''),
'show' => in_array($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'], array(1, 3)) && empty($context['disable_sp']),
'sub_buttons' => array(
),
),

.. perhaps you ignored errors during SP 2.3.4 installation? .. and perhaps the failed file edits are due to not updating your forum software.

I don't encounter errors during installation. Everytime I switch simple portal on, the forum button will be missing. That's the problem. When I turn it off, of course the forum button is there.

Please attach your Subs.php file, found in your /Sources folder.

Since this issue does not involve themes and graphics, I hope you won't mind me moving it into English Support.

It looks like you have had one of those "silent" install problems.  you got no errors or warnings, but you also have no Simple Portal.

Or at least parts of it are missing. I don't know how many parts are missing.

I recommend reading our documentation on install problems, then uninstalling Simple Portal and re-installing it.
I expect you will run into some failed tests uninstalling Simple Portal -- since SMF never quite managed to do the install.

You are probably going to have to change some file permissions before you'll be able to get this install to work.

Don't worry. We can help. Please read the doc first, and start one step at a time. Stop and ask questions when you get to any part that you don't understand. And give us all the details.
