Title: Events Block Problem
Post by: tsumeone on December 29, 2014, 03:40:34 PM
Hello,

I am having a problem with the events block where it is showing the wrong date for the event for users who are using a time offset to view the forum.

My forum is in Eastern Time.  If I have my time offset to 0 (eastern time also) and set an event for the 10th, it will show up in the topic as on the 10th, on the calendar as the 10th, and in the upcoming events block as on the 10th.

Many of my users are in Central Time.  Their time offset from the server is -1.  For events on the 10th, they still show up on the topic as being on the 10th and on the calendar as the 10th, but they show up in the upcoming events block as being on the 9th.

I need to get the events block fixed so it shows the correct date to users in central time as well.  Any ideas?

This is not really a block/Simple Portal support 'problem'. It is a custom code issue.

I can't help unfortunately but maybe someone else can when they have time. It would be better to change the title to something more accurate and ask in custom coding.
I guess it is possible if members are logged in and belong to some group identifying them/their time zone.  But for guests/not logged in members looking at the calendar it looks difficult - examining IP addresses and trying to display the correct time for the zone.
