Forum Data loss and recovery Portal dysfunctional
« on: March 17, 2010, 11:52:18 AM »
To make a long story short we had some sort of server corruption which in turn disabled our board when corrected i found the portal damaged... don't ask as i said long story short.

in turn the portal has been corrupted and i am seeing errors/missing front page information.. all is corrupted except the left side portal blocks

the chatterbox shows this error:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home2/customsi/public_html/smf/Sources/Subs.php  on line 2513

upon trying to uninstall i get these errors

./index.php     Test failed

/Sources/ManagePermissions.php     Test failed

I am currently using Simple portal 2.3.1 through SMF 1.1.11

i have at the moment disabled Simple Portal through maintenance as it is slow loading and has information loss..

here is my web address for whatever purposes down the line you may need  it?

http://www.customsims3.com/smf/index.php?action=forum

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: turning off the shoutbox has corrected the missing blocks,, so how can i fix this mess? should i delete the shoutbox entirely?

Edit2 : I have deleted the shoutbox and loaded in another and is working although i still have the portal uninstall error?

The uninstalled Test Failed error is probably because of a conflict with another mod. You'll need to remove those edits manually using the manual installation instructions.

As for the issue with shoutbox, fix is here:

http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=4126.msg26219#msg26219

It will be fixed in 2.3.2 version as well.
And slowly, you come to realize... It's all as it should be...

Before i could even Manually uninstall the file it caused a major crash and wiped the index.php... somewhat confused about that? luckily we had a back up of the index file on hand. i have now uninstalled the portal and will await an update, most likely will update the board before i install the portal back but thank you for trying to help.

There is no way that issue would be the cause of "wiped index.php". We have been using the same mod with that fix for about a month here and we didn't had any issues. Of course, you can install the mod when you feel comfortable. There will be a 2.3.2 release soon, which includes that fix.
