Extend left and right blocks to the footer
« on: April 01, 2012, 07:53:00 AM »
I use SimplePortal at this site: http://uskojaelama.net/forum/index.php

Size of the middle block varies depending on how much content is on the rss feed it loads. Sometimes if there's much content in the central tab, the front page looks a bit broken. Is there a way to set fixed size for these blocks or make the right and left blocks extend all the way to the footer regardless of how much content is in them?

Thanks for the 2.3.5 version, btw!

My site is similar with a bit of variation in length of the side blocks but I dont worry about it these days.
If the centre content size varies and you cannot control it then I do not know what to recommend.

I do not know where the central blocks data comes from (?), or if you can control the number of characters etc. If you used your forum posts or articles you could limit the display by the number of posts/articles and the length of the teaser/intro text so that it matches the sides a bit better (can control those too).

Stretching the side columns might not look good ... but I  guess someone could do it with custom code.

Is it worth it? I do not think it looks bad. Perhaps it would look better if the footer block (tags?) was put in the centre so that you do not see the blocked of space left/right - just clean open columns till the end.

I marked this solved - looks like you changed your footer blocks a bit? I think it looks ok. Let us know if there is still a problem.
