Title: Problems with SimplePortal after installation
Post by: Garro on December 05, 2009, 03:40:41 PM
Well I had problems installing SP on SMF (2.0 RC2) having some "files are not writable" error, i fixed it making a temp dir on the package dir. But when I install SP, it says that it installed successfully but for some reason SMF looks the same.

I tried reinstalling but i get the same problem, also, when I try to uninstall I get "Test Failed" on most of the files.

Any ideas of what Im doing wrong?

Also, for some reason after the install I have some files on the temp dir (Install1-1.php, $auto_0.txt, install2.php, portal.css, etc) and everytime i try opening them I get "HTTP Error 403 Forbidden".

I am getting the same error.. fresh install of SMF 2.0 RC2 and Simple Portal.
Installed fine.. but nothing is being shown.. not even the Simple Portal menu in the Admin section.

This is unfortunately an issue with how your server handles permissions.

If you are able to, run a chown over your user directory to ensure nothing is owned by others. If you're unable to do such, contact your hosting and ask them about why some of your files are not writable by your account.

The server is mine.. and I have installed the previous portal version on several sites before this with no problems.

Chmod your Themes, Sources, Packages and Packages/temp directories to 0777. Also make sure that your main index.php and SSI.php files are writable as well.
