Hi Correct me if i am wrong. Am i in the correct area for support in adding a navigation button to my forum?
-
There is instruction to create a block of navigation buttons that I posted a while back if that is what you are referring to.
However, if you are referring to adding buttons to the navigation array then you will need to install a SMF modification that allows adding custom content to it.
Please read this thread for some related links to your query:

Hi
Yes I am referring to adding a button to the main navigation page.
I have tried adding this mod to my site but it didn't work.
So I was thinking about manually adding this to the page script myself with the guidance of someone more experienced than myself.

Hi Again
Not to confuse matters here but somehow i have managed to install this mod ( 6 custom buttons ) in my forum and now i do have the button in the navigation bar.
However i am trying to enable this so i can add this as a separate page to the tree.
I have named the button FAQ
All i need now is to be able to place my content in it.
Any ideas on how?
Thanks

That mod will allow 4 sub-menu entries for each button within its settings.
After applying any changes it may be necessary to clear your SMF cache to see the effects.

I have looked to see if i could set the tab button but no such lucky.
I need to edit the page but in what area i am still confused.

Tonymura,
That mod works as expected and will allow you to enter your FAQ button to the navigation bar along with 4 entries in its sub-menu. You just need to clear the SMF cache in SMF Admin Maintenance to see the results of your changes. If you wish to edit the SMF file manually you will need to look in ../Sources/Subs.php
Do a search (ctrl-f or cmd-f) for the word help or home wthin the Subs.php file and you will find the array you need to edit. Make sure to make a copy of the file prior to your changes if you are not confident with being able to fix any syntax errors you may cause by making errors.
Regards.

Thanks for your help and all is working good.
i did what you have told me, however it does create sub menus that can be activated in the drop down list but the main tab is not active and redirect me to the home page.
I would think i am still not adding in the correct fields.
I will tinker around a bit more and keep you posted when i get this right.
Cheers

I'm also considering this as recent SMF themes are responsive for mobile devices. The main menu mods on SMF don't work with responsive themes! Even so, I'm not sure how header menus would display of narrow width. Maybe someone needs to make a responsive header menu mod.
I was surprised to see how many new menu mods there have been recently on SMF.
-
Good point i never consider this.
As i know the theme i have is a paid version and modified just for me, i was told it is a responsive theme, but having added this mod i am now considering if this will ever work.
-
Perhaps if it is limited to 1 or 2 top menu items it will work. I will try something similar by taking my extra Simple Portal page menu items out of the SMF menu and put them in the header - will be a quite long list of sub menus.
-
Do you still require assistance with this one? The easiest way would be to create a new SimplePortal page with the content you want and manually add a link to the menu for that page. (like the ones we have in our top menu)

Thank you for your help.
I have resolved this issue
