Steve,
Welcome to Simple Portal!
Simple Portal is a modification/application that is designed to work with Simple Machines Forum (http://download.simplemachines.org/) software (SMF).
To use Simple Portal you will need to have SMF installed first whereas any modifications for it (including Simple Portal) can be installed through its administration package manager.
Click on the link below which will direct you to the SMF wiki that contains all the needed relevant info.

I don't know how to install it using cPanel. Where to put files (know how to install) and what file to use for the theme.

Steve,
For actual SMF software support you will need to post your questions on their main support forum. When you have SMF installed you can come back here for support regarding Simple Portal which will enhance it.
Register on the SMF forum and then post your questions regarding its installation into this board:

SMF was already installed, i'm just asking for some help on how to install
-
Steve,
You need to install Simple Portal through the admin section of your SMF. This is how you install all 3rd party modification packages into your forum installation. It is necessary to install modifications this way so they perform all their necessary edits to files, insert various database entries/changes and can be uninstalled at a later date if opted.
- Download the compressed Simple Portal 2.5 package to your computer
- Log on to your forum as administrator, go to the administration section and opt Package Manager
- Select Download Packages and navigate to the compressed folder on your PC/Mac
- Upload the package to your website and then install it via the Package Manager
- Simple Portal will then be installed for you to customize your website
Here is some further documentation concerning the SMF package manager:

Steve,
If you are not enjoying the documentation at SMF, please have a look at the SimplePortal documentation:
