With this example the URLs & PATHs must be changed to your specific environment specs.

Your URL is:

The URL that you have your SMF forum is:
https://example.com/forumwhich has the path of:
../home/mypath/public_html/forum
After installing Simple Portal into SMF via the package manager you take the file located at:
../home/mypath/public_html/forum/PortalStandalone.php
and move it to public_html + rename the file to:
../home/mypath/public_html/index.php
Log in to SMF as Admin & then navigate to:
Admin -> Simple Portal -> Configuration -> General Settings
Set the Portal Mode to: Standalone
Set the Standalone URL to:
https://example.comSAVE your settingsNow navigate to:
Admin -> Server Settings -> Cookies and Sessions
Add a number to the cookie name (making it different than it was originally)
Make sure
Enable local storage of cookies is unchecked (disabled).
Make sure
Use subdomain independent cookies is checked (enabled).
SAVE your settingsNow navigate to:
Admin -> Maintenance -> Forum Maintenance -> Routine
Perform task: Empty the File Cache
Done.
Now
https://example.com should show your home portal page.
