You're certain this is a fresh install? You have no mods installed nor any custom code in your files?

Yep...fresh install.

I deleted all mods (only 3 of them, including SP) right after the fresh install, because I wanted to start completely fresh. I had "Welcome Topic" mod, "Order News" mod, and SP.

The only "tweaks" I have done to the board itself (which were working with all past 1.1.X versions of SMF and SP together) were for color & display "looks", and that was to the "default" theme, which is the only theme I use.

I.E. - the few "tweaks" I've done to anything on the board were working fine with past versions of 1.1.X of SMF, together with SP.

Should I grab fresh copies (from SMF 1.1.7) of the files listed as "Failed", and load them to their respective directories...and then try it again? The only one I think I have "tweaked" is the BoardIndex.php. All the other files listed as "failed" I haven't done anything to.

I can attach the version of BoardIndex.php I'm using....just to let you see what's up with it?

I know it might sound funny but...I just don't tweak things too much because I like the simplicity of SMF.  :)

Thanks!
Tal

I've gone back and checked my ADMIN notes regarding the few manual "tweaks" I've made to my forum, and here's the short list:

Changed:
Index.template.php - this change had to do with getting the logo to display properly. This change was made over a year ago, before I started using SP.

Changed:
BoardIndex.template.php - this change had to do with fixing the news fader to a fixed height, so that it wouldn't collapse and expand all the time. This change was made over a year ago, before I started using SP.

Changed:
Sources->BoardIndex.php - this change had to do with making the "who's online" names to display in bold. This change was made a few months ago. I was using SP at the time, most likely 2.0.2 or 2.0.4.

The only other manual changes I've made were to the style.css
That's it.

And ALL those changes were working with every version of SP....up until now.

I'll be happy to attach copies of any files for anyone to look at.
This one has me baffled....  :bandaged:

I think I've gotten the issues resolved.

I went through and checked the changelog for the 1.1.7 upgrade, and I made sure all the files included in the 1.1.7 upgrade had actually been loaded. (As it turns out, what I thought was a "fresh complete install"...wasn't....so, my bad for passing along that incorrect info). So, when I deleted all the versions of SP yesterday (thinking I had gone thru a complete full SMF 1.1.7 upgrade) it was wrong to do so.

So, I've made sure all the new versions of the files included in the 1.1.7 upgrade have indeed been loaded, and things seem to be working fine. The "powered by" at the bottom even shows 1.1.7. So...I think I've gotten that part taken care of.

****

Now, for the SP 2.0.5 upgrade....as I noted yesterday, after I had gone through the 1.1.7 upgrade (which I had incorrectly thought was a full complete upgrade instead of just the 1.1.7 patch), I deleted all previous versions of SP.

So, after I got the 1.1.7 issue taken care of, I inspected each file included in the SP 2.0.5 package, against the existing corresponding files (as of earlier this morning) that were still in my directories. I found that the modifications to each existing file (previously made by past SP installs) were still in place in the existing files. I think when I tried to install the 2.0.5 yesterday, the existing information from past SP installs somehow messed things up.
 :bandaged:

(Although I haven't been able to totally think that through yet, but, it seems to make sense).

So, I dropped in fresh versions (from a new SMF 1.1.7 full unzipped package) of the files that had shown as "Test failed" yesterday when I tried the 2.0.5 upgrade. Those fresh versions included:

BoardIndex.php
Load.php
Recent.php
Who.english.php

I placed them into their respective directories. Then, I attempted the load and install of SP 2.0.5 and all files listed as "successful". The only file that was skipped was:

Who.english-utf8.php

So - I think I have this working now.
I'll monitor article and block creation for any errors that show up in my forum's error log, and report back if I have an issue.

Also - thanks to those who helped out here ;)
I appreciate your time and effort...please know that.

If any of the developers read through this and think something still sounds wonky, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm more than happy to assist with anyone who thinks more investigating should be done.

Thanks all!
Tal

Ok....hold the phone....as soon as I navigated back to my forum, I noticed that I now have two "Forum" buttons at the top.

(*headache begins)

Can someone tell me which file to modify for this, and what code I need to remove or modify?

Thanks,
Tal

index.template

if you use the default theme, probabily you have two codes like this
Code: [Select]
// Show the [forum] button.
if(!empty($context['portalactive']))
echo ($current_action=='forum' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_first"> </td>' : '' , '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_' , $current_action=='forum' ? 'active_back' : 'back' , '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=forum">'.$txt['sp-forum'].'</a>
</td>' , $current_action=='forum' ? '<td class="maintab_active_last"> </td>' : '';

Delete one of them ;)
